Roof Leak Repair in Magnolia, NJ
Some of what looks like a leak is a loft raining on itself. The first job is to establish which of the two you have, because they are fixed in completely different places.

Two different problems that look identical
Water entering through a failed boot and moisture condensing on cold sheathing both end up as a brown mark on a ceiling. One is fixed on the roof in an afternoon; the other is fixed at the soffits and the bathroom extractor and never responds to anything done up top. Starting in the loft is what tells them apart.
Working back to the source
-
Start underneath
With a torch, following staining and tide marks uphill along the framing and the underside of the deck until the trail stops.
-
Look for the tell-tale pattern
A single track from one point means an entry above it. Even frosting or droplets across a whole slope of sheathing means condensation, and the roof is not the problem.
-
Match it to the slope above
Once an entry area is known from below, the matching patch of roof is examined from above for the actual opening.
-
Test with water where needed
A hose worked slowly up the slope in sections while somebody watches from inside. Slow, dull, and the only certain method on a stubborn one.
Why the decorating waits
Plaster and drywall stay damp for days after the cause is dealt with, and fresh paint over a wet ceiling blisters. The roof or the loft gets fixed, and the decorating waits until the mark has dried and stopped growing โ which is also the clearest proof the right cause was found.

Where it is, how big it is, and whether it appears during rain or on cold still nights. That last answer alone often settles it.
