Roofing Magnolia

About This Magnolia Roofing Crew

A small outfit covering Magnolia and the boroughs beside it, working to one idea that took a few hundred roofs to arrive at: the covering is only half the roof.

The reason

Why we kept going back to the same houses

Early on, a handful of roofs came back far sooner than they should have. The materials were right, the installation was right, and the coverings had still given up a decade early. Every one of them turned out to have a loft that could not breathe. After that the hatch got opened on every visit, and the pattern stopped being a coincidence.

In practice

How a job runs here

  1. Above and below, every time

The slopes and then the loft. One tells you how old the covering is, the other tells you how long the next one gets.

  2. Ventilation on its own line

Baffles, clearing the soffits and sizing the exhaust appear separately on the estimate, so it is obvious what you are being charged for and easy to decline.

  3. Photographs of what is hidden

Soft decking, dark sheathing, a duct venting into the loft โ€” all of it photographed before it is covered up, and all of it handed over.

  4. The same people throughout

Whoever opened the hatch is on the roof when the work happens. Nothing is handed to a subcontractor between the two visits.

The patch

Eight boroughs and no further

Magnolia, Somerdale, Hi-Nella, Laurel Springs, Lawnside, Barrington, Haddon Heights and Runnemede. The circle stays small because half an hour in a loft only fits into a day when nothing is a long drive away.

The visit costs nothing and the written estimate that follows lists the ventilation work on its own.
